The Crew Motorfest PC Performance Analysis: A Comprehensive Review

News: Ubisoft’s highly anticipated racing game, The Crew Motorfest, is finally making its long-awaited debut in the realm of PC gaming. Prior to its PC release, Ubisoft graciously provided us with a review code, granting us the opportunity to conduct an extensive evaluation of the game’s performance and benchmarking. Armed with a state-of-the-art gaming system and an array of high-end graphics cards, we conducted a thorough analysis of The Crew Motorfest’s performance within the PC platform.

PC System Configuration:

In our quest to secure reliable and precise outcomes, we relied on a premium gaming system for our PC Performance Analysis. Our system was powered with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a medley of graphic cards such as AMD’s Radeon RX580, RX Vega 64, RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, and NVIDIA’s GTX980Ti, RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080, and RTX 4090. We deployed Windows 10 64-bit as our default operating system and used updated GeForce and Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition drivers. We also disabled the second CCD on our processor for the purpose of testing.

Graphics Settings:

The Crew Motorfest delivers a multitude of graphics settings, customizable to the preferences of each PC gamer. These settings comprise Texture Filtering, Ambient Occlusion, Geometry, Shadows, Vegetation, etc. Notably, the game doesn’t have a separate setting for Textures, which is unusual. Also, renowned PC upscaling methods like FSR, DLSS, and XeSS are not supported. There is also no Exclusive Fullscreen Mode and the fps is locked at 60.

Benchmarking and Testing:

The game possesses a built-in benchmark tool that extends a representative summary of the in-game performance. Utilizing this tool, we carried out exhaustive GPU benchmarks and tests to gauge The Crew Motorfest’s performance on a variety of hardware configurations.

CPU Performance:

A surprising element that surfaced during our tests was that The Crew Motorfest does not necessitate the need for a top-tier CPU for seamless functioning. We were able to reach a steady 60fps at 1080p on Max Settings with a simulated dual-core CPU, even with SMT/Hyper-Threading enabled. It implies that the game is capable of satisfying a wider audience with varied CPUs.

GPU Performance:

On the GPU front, most of the examined graphic cards exhibited stellar performance, delivering a smooth gaming experience at 1080p on Max Settings. However, we experienced constant crashes on the AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX, seemingly a problem linked to the RDNA 3 GPUs. Conversely, all the other AMD graphic cards functioned without any hiccups.

At 1440p on Max Settings, the top four GPUs we tested did not have any issues, consistently maintaining a 60fps throughout the gameplay. However, when we pushed the limits to native 4K on Max Settings, we observed that only the NVIDIA RTX 4090 could provide a steady 60fps experience. It’s noteworthy that our NVIDIA GTX980Ti faced sporadic crashes during the benchmark, possibly a result of VRAM limitations.

Visual Fidelity:

The Crew Motorfest scores well on performance, but its visual fidelity is somewhat lacking. The gaming experience could’ve been elevated with the inclusion of ray tracing effects like RTGI and RTAO. Additionally, we observed noticeable pop-ins while driving, indicating a scope for enhancement in this area.

Shader Compilation and Stutters:

An intriguing observation was that the game does not possess a shader pre-compilation procedure. However, the resulting shader compilation stutters were fairly minimal, with only a handful of incidents happening during the initial hour of gameplay, indicating an overall smooth experience

In closing, The Crew Motorfest showcases excellent performance on PC, offering a smooth gaming journey without the need for a high-end CPU and with reasonable GPU demands. The game’s visual prowess could have been enhanced with the addition of ray tracing effects and a dedicated Textures option. Despite these minor drawbacks, The Crew Motorfest displays immense potential as an enjoyable racing game on the PC platform.

As PC gamers eagerly await the arrival of The Crew Motorfest, they can rest assured knowing that the game is designed to operate smoothly across a wide range of hardware setups. Whether you’re a dedicated enthusiast or a casual gamer, The Crew Motorfest offers an engaging racing experience that won’t break the bank. Featuring captivating environments, meticulously detailed car models, and exhilarating gameplay, The Crew Motorfest is poised to become an essential title for racing game enthusiasts worldwide. So fasten your seatbelts, ignite your engines, and get ready for an unforgettable journey!
